Create a spotlight on your talent
Every camper.
A stage. A crowd.
Some kids arrive with a rehearsed magic act. Most arrive insisting they have "no talent" — and leave having sung into a pinecone microphone while eighty friends roared. The spotlight program makes performers out of everyone, gently.
It runs in three layers: weekly circle showcases where trying is the whole point, Friday campfire skits written by the campers, and August's end-of-summer talent night with lights, a real MC and families in the front rows.
How the spotlight works
Circle showcases
Every Wednesday each group performs for itself — jokes, songs, cartwheels. Applause is mandatory; perfection is banned.
Campfire skits
Groups write and stage a five-minute skit for Friday's fire — counselors handle the scary parts, like the curtain.
Skills coaching
Guitar circles, drama games, drumming and dance electives run all summer for kids who want to build an act.
Talent night
The August finale: auditions, rehearsals, posters and a lakeside stage. Every act gets a trophy; every family gets a video.
Spotlight questions
Does my shy child have to perform? +
Everyone appears on stage, but "performing" can mean holding the flashlight, running the music or standing with the group song. Counselors shape a role every child enjoys.
Can families attend talent night? +
Yes — talent night is free for families, with reserved front rows. Bring grandparents; the camera crew films every act for you.
Is there an extra cost? +
None. The whole spotlight program — coaching, costumes from the dress-up barn, talent night — is included in every camp week.
